Bionic contact lens offers superhuman vision

Thanks to the University of Washington your dreams of superhuman powers are near reality. Their engineers have developed a flexible, biologically safe contact lens with an imprinted electronic circuit and lights. The possibilities of this are endless, and sort of frightening. Wearers can zoom in on far-off scenes, have useful facts pop into their field of vision, or surf the web on the go.

For communications it is crazy. Advertisers can create virtual display scenes that only wearers of these contact lenses could see. They can immerse their audience in virtual worlds that bridge online and offline experiences, transform outdoor or retail spaces, and bring viewers into their television commercials.

Right now, these contact lenses don’t correct vision. But the engineers believe the technology could easily be applied to vision-correcting lenses. Very sci-fi. very cool.
